✨The Chrome Extension Interface
The Chrome Extension Interface
The Alexis Chrome Extension is designed to integrate seamlessly with the ALX Software Engineering program's intranet, providing a convenient and accessible way for students to interact with their personalized copilot. This guide will walk you through the extension interface, including how to access Alexis and navigate its features.
Accessing Alexis
To begin using Alexis, you'll need to first install the Chrome extension. After installation, Alexis can be accessed by clicking on the sidebar icon located within the ALX intranet. Look for the Alexis icon on the left or right sidebar of your intranet portal, depending on your layout configuration.

Find the Alexis Icon: On the intranet page, locate the Alexis icon. This is typically found in the sidebar.
Click the Icon: Simply click on the Alexis icon to open the extension sidepanel.
The Extension Sidepanel
The sidepanel is the main interface through which you interact with Alexis. It's designed to be intuitive and easy to use, offering a range of functionalities to assist you with your projects.
Overview of Features
Project Context: Upon opening a project in the intranet, Alexis automatically collects essential project details like project ID, name, description, and tasks. This context is used to personalize your interactions.
Messaging Interface: The core of Alexis's sidepanel is the messaging interface, where you can type in queries or requests related to your project. Alexis responds with explanations, tips, or the requested information.
Conversation Threads: Alexis organizes conversations by project. Each project can have multiple conversation threads, making it easier to navigate through past interactions.
Initiating Conversations
To start a conversation with Alexis:
Open the sidepanel by clicking the Alexis icon.
If prompted, select the project you're working on from a dropdown menu or continue with the project already loaded.
Type your question or command in the message input box and press Enter.
Providing More Context
If you need to give Alexis more context about a specific task, use the #<task-number>
syntax within your message. For example, #3
would include the details of task number 3 in your query, allowing Alexis to provide more targeted assistance.
Privacy and Data Handling
No Personal Information: Alexis is designed with privacy in mind. It does not collect or process any personal information from the intranet.
Project-Specific Data: Only the details necessary to assist with your projects are collected, such as project and task information.
By familiarizing yourself with the Chrome extension interface, you can leverage Alexis to its full potential, enhancing your learning experience and project success in the ALX Software Engineering program.
